If you’re an aspiring journalist, part-time playwright or in-the-know neighbour interested in uncovering the issues that are affecting your area, then we want to hear from you!
This year, Three Rivers has teamed up with Post Workers Theatre, who are collecting local news stories for a new theatre production that will bring Bexley’s news to life in December 2025.
We are now looking for 7 people to join our newsroom and commit to the following:
- To attend 4x online and 2x in-person creative workshops led by Post Workers Theatre
Each session will support you to uncover and collect the important news in your area, in the form of text, audio or pictures, and to transform this information into exciting and dramatic scripts using simple writing exercises fully supported by Dash, Dem and Nick from Post Workers Theatre.

A living newspaper is a historic form of theatre that engages audiences by dramatising current events and social issues, often proposing ways to inspire change.
It was originally developed in revolutionary Russia in the 1920s, when theatre troupes presented the news of the day in a mix of satirical songs, animated posters, dances and pantomime, as a ‘theatre without a stage’, in which the audience could take part.
This new edition is inspired by the radical tradition of living newspapers and will be written, directed and performed by people living, working and studying in Bexley, based on the news you send us, and will become the third issue of our community newspaper; The Bexley Responder.
