A living newspaper is a historic form of theatre that engages audiences by dramatising current events and social issues, often proposing ways to inspire change.

It was originally developed in revolutionary Russia in the 1920s, when theatre troupes presented the news of the day in a mix of satirical songs, animated posters, dances and pantomime, as a ‘theatre without a stage’, in which the audience could take part.

This new edition is inspired by the radical tradition of living newspapers and will be written, directed and performed by people living, working and studying in Bexley, based on the news you send us, and will become the third issue of our community newspaper, The Bexley Responder
