with Active Horizons & T A P E Collective

Horizon Lines is a new project for people from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds living in Bexley to connect, care, create and share their everyday creative practices with each other, and the wider community.

We are looking for 12 local people interested in developing and showcasing their creative talents to join the project, and create a series of fun, vibrant and liberating cultural experiences in north Bexley.

We believe that everyone is creative in their own way, so we’re interested in everything from hair braiding and henna to storytelling, samba, cooking and choir.

Each person will be supported throughout the project by a friendly and experienced team of professional artists and producers, as well as receiving a £250 bursary to attend 6 workshops, and a production budget of up to £800 to create a new work or event for a public exhibition in Bexley opening in September 2022.

Workshops will take place at Active Horizons, Dellview Road, Erith DA8 3FG on the following;

-       12:30pm – 4:30pm Saturday 23 April

-       12:30pm – 4:30pm Sunday 24 April

-       12:30pm – 4:30pm Saturday 14 May

-       12:30pm – 4:30pm Saturday 11 June

-       12:30pm – 4:30pm Saturday 9 July

-       12:30pm – 4:30pm Saturday 13 August

 Please ensure that you are available to attend all workshops before applying.

You will also be expected to work on your project outside of the workshops and contribute to the exhibition and pubic programme.

You don’t need to be an artist or have any formal arts training or education to be involved - just a willingness to share in a process of collective community creativity.

Horizon Lines is open to Bexley based individuals, aged 16+, who identify being from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

To apply please complete our application form HERE by 5pm, Friday 1 April 2022.

Alternatively, you can send a video of your responses to the questions - maximum of three minutes.  Please send your video to olayide@activehorizons.org.uk with the subject line, Horizon Lines, via WeTransfer or a Dropbox link.

Representatives from Active Horizons, Three Rivers and T A P E Collective will be selecting the successful applicants, who will be chosen on the basis of creating a thoughtful and collaborative group.
